Frequently Asked Questions
Q:
Why does it take so long for my pet to be groomed?
A:
Every pet is groomed at their rhythm; lovingly and carefully with understanding to safety and attention to detail. Grooming is not a process that can be rushed. We are a company that focuses on making your pet look and feel good. We are a company that likes to do their job well. One of the great things about Pretty Paws is we don't do an assembly line process. Each pet has their own individual time for grooming so they aren't here for hours.
Q:
My pet's nails aren't short enough. Why?
A:
Each nail has a vain that if trimmed too short, will cause them to bleed. Some dogs' and cats' veins are as long as the nail itself and should be trimmed to the very minimum to avoid bleeding. We suggest bringing your pet in every two weeks for a nail trim to help that vein recede back towards the nail bed. Walking on concrete can also help wear down the nail.
Q:
Why is it important to be on a grooming schedule?
A:
Achieving a grooming schedule helps your pet to understand the process and to help them feel more comfortable. Grooming also reduces the likelihood of your pet's fur becoming matted. Brushing/combing between grooms can also help your pet and the groomer.
Q:
Why does it cost so much to have my pet's hair cut?
A:
Every groom comes with: haircut, nail trim, ears plucked/cleaned, pads & sanitary cleaned, glands expressed, and a bath.
Q:
Why is my pet so nervous when I take them to the groomer?
A:
There are a lot of smells and sounds as soon as you and your pet walk into the door. So, it's a lot for your pet to take in. If you're feeling nervous about the process, they can pick up on your feelings. So, they appear to be nervous. Here at Pretty Paws, we have individual time set aside for your pet while they are here. We also have comfy towels and music to help relax your pet, making it feel more like a spa-like setting.
